In 1975: Geisinger Employees Federal Credit Union was formed. Run by volunteers, these individuals spread the word of the credit union movement among their peers and opened accounts at a table in the Geisinger cafeteria.

40 years of service 1st
In 1988: Tri-County Farm & Home Supply Co. and Jack Metzer Inc. joined as the first Select Employee Groups not affiliated with the Geisinger Medical Center.
In 1990: Geisinger Employees Federal Credit Union united with Bucknell University Employees Federal Credit Union.
In 1993: First Annual Charity Golf Tournament was held. To date, the tournament has raised over $300,000 for local charities.
In 1994: Geisinger Federal Credit Union united with Susquehanna University Employees Federal Credit Union.
In 1995: Geisinger Federal Credit Union changed its name to Service 1st Federal Credit Union.
In 1996: Service 1st partners with the Danville Area School District to open the first in-school branch in the state of Pennsylvania.
In 2002: Office in Shamokin Dam was opened.
In 2003: Office in Lewisburg was opened and Service 1st united with Keystone Historical Federal Credit Union in Williamsport.
In 2007: Service 1st updated its brand to become "Friends you can bank on!"
In 2009: Service 1st joined the Nationwide CO-OP Shared Branching Network, giving members access to over 5,000 branches.
In 2010: Office in Loyalsock was opened. Corporate Center opens to become our headquarters facility.
In 2013: Named 2013 Federal Credit Union of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.
In 2014: Office in Mifflinburg was opened.
In 2015: Service 1st celebrates their Big 4-0!
Our Bloomsburg Office opened
In 2016: The Service 1st office in Sunbury opened.
In 2017: Service 1st was selected Best Bank/Credit Union in the Valley by Daily Item readers. We also reintroduced our mascot Crissie.
In 2018: Service 1st merged with NU Community Credit Union, resulting in our 11th office location in Montandon.
In 2019: The Service 1st Elysburg Office opened.
In 2020: Our team was resilient, working together with our members through the COVID-19 Pandemic.
