(Danville, PA) – On November 14, 2024, representatives of the Service 1st Federal Credit Union Loyalsock Office and Super Shoes in Muncy delivered shoes to students at the Williamsport Area School District’s Hepburn-Lycoming Primary School in Cogan Station.

There are more than 300 students in kindergarten through third grade, and school guidance counselor Seth Herb shared that some of their students don’t have appropriate shoes for the winter season.

Mary Jo Martin, Assistant Vice President Williamsport Market, and Tina Cupp, Assistant Market Manager, Service 1st Loyalsock Office, solicited donations from fellow Service 1st employees and members and reached out to Super Shoes. Super Shoes generously donated $500 worth of footwear.

“‘People Helping People’ is the credit union philosophy, and by working with Super Shoes to donate to the Hepburn-Lycoming Primary School, we were able to carry on this tradition and make a positive impact in the lives of these students,” Martin said. “Additionally, Service 1st enjoys giving back to the communities we serve. It is one of our core values, and we find it very rewarding.”

In August, Cogan Station and surrounding communities were hit hard by Tropical Storm Debbie, leaving millions of dollars in flood damage in its wake. Bobbi Gansell, Store Manager of Super Shoes, Muncy, said this, too, weighed in the business’s decision to help.

“We were honored to be part of the effort to raise donations for those affected by the recent flooding. Providing shoes for the children of Hepburn-Lycoming was the least we could do to show our support. Our hope is that this small gesture brings comfort and relief as our community works together to rebuild. At Super Shoes, we are dedicated to standing by our local communities, especially in times of need.”
