(Danville, PA) – Steve Endress, who has served on Service 1st Federal Credit Union’s Board of Directors for the last 25 years, was recognized as CrossState Credit Union Association’s 2024 Calvin H. Jackson Volunteer of the Year.

Endress, who recently completed his term as Chairperson for the Service 1st Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, was presented with the Calvin H. Jackson Volunteer of the Year Award during CrossState’s Connect Conference held at the Hard Rock Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, N.J.

The award recognizes “a volunteer who has selflessly given time, effort and talent for the betterment of the (credit union) movement.” Endress has demonstrated his leadership in many ways, which includes leading by example and showing genuine care for the organization, its members and employees. As chairperson, he led Service 1st through what some would consider challenging times: navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic and guiding the Board to help select the credit union’s new Chief Executive Officer. He participated in numerous events and even uses personal work vacation time to visit Service 1st branches during the holiday season.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive the Calvin H. Jackson Volunteer of the Year Award,” Endress said. “I started volunteering with Service 1st Federal Credit Union in 1998. Twenty-five years ago, I would have never imagined standing before you today….Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.”

Service 1st employees, volunteers and members were excited to hear Endress received the award, knowing he exemplifies the organization’s core values and shares true compassion as he’s helped guide the financial institution.

“Steve isn’t one for accolades, but he fully deserves this honor,” said Mike Thomas, President/CEO, Service 1st. “Without a doubt, we’re in a solid position due to his steadfast leadership, steering us through arguably the most challenging times we’ve faced. All of us at Service 1st hope Steve can appreciate this award, just as much as we appreciate him.”
